What is TNSPC GROUP 1 EXAM?.

Combined Civil Services Examination I is the highest cadre examination conducted by Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission for selecting candidates to serve under the State Government of Tamil Nadu. Group 1 exam is conducted every year according to the TNPSC annual planner.

How to prepare for Group 1 Exam?

What is the Exam Pattern of Combined Civil Services Examination – I (Group 1)?

Exam pattern of the Group 1 exam has three stages that are a preliminary exam with the objective type of questions, mains with the descriptive type of questions, and interview or oral test.

Preliminary exam:

This is the first stage of the group 1 Exam, those who are scoring qualifying cut off marks this will be called for mains examination. This is just to select the qualifying candidates among the overall applicants. Prelims cut off marks will not be considered in the selection process. Preliminary is an objective examination conducted for 300 marks with 200 questions for 3 hours. It comprises of 175 questions form General Studies and 25 marks form General Mental Ability. The result will be published on the TNPSC website, only eligible candidates register numbers will be listed in the result.

Mains Examination:

This is the second stage of the group 1 exam, those who have obtained the qualifying cut off marks in preliminary exam only can able to attempt this mains exam. It will consist of descriptive set of questions. There are three papers in mains exam, the duration of each paper will be 3 hours and each bear 250 marks. Mains examinations will be conducted for a total of 750 marks. Based on the cutoff marks of this mains exam candidates will be selected for the oral test or interview. Only the mains score and interview marks will be considered in the final selection.

Interview:

Interview or oral exam is the final phase in the Group 1 candidate selection procedure by the TNPSC. It will be conducted for a total of 100 marks. Those who have obtained adequate cutoff in the mains exam are only eligible to attend the final phase.
