From the year 2019 Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission have integrated both Group 2 interview and Group 2A Non Interview exam together. So now for both Group 2 and Group 2A examinations will be held together in common. But there will an interview or oral test besides for Group 2 interview post alone and for Group Non-Interview only prelims and mains exams will be there.

It requires a good quality of preparation since now the preliminary syllabus of Group 2 is same as Group 1. The revised syllabus of Group 2 has only the General studies part and General Mental Ability Test. At first, one should go through the syllabus completely and should scrutiny all the subjects deeply. Then need to take up the online test in a regular interval of time and must analyze the TNPSC Group 2 previous year question papers. Preparing with the previous year question papers will give you a clear picture of the examination and how the questions have been asked. For both Group 2 Interview and Non Interview the preliminary and mains examinations will be held jointly with common syllabus. The prelims encompass of objective questions and mains have detailed descriptive questions. For Group 2 interview cadres alone there will an oral test or interview.
The prelims will conducted for the total of 300 marks with 200 questions. The General studies part holds 175 marks and General Mental Ability Tests holds 25 marks. This just to refine the eligible candidates for next stage of examination. This score will not be considered in the selection process.
There are two papers in Group 2 Mains examination, paper I carries 100 marks with the duration of one and half an hour and paper II carries 300 marks with the duration for 3 hours. Only the marks obtained in paper II will be considered in the selection.
There will be an interview or oral test for 40 marks. Only the Paper II marks and interview marks will be considers during the final selection process.
