The Tamil Nadu government has introduced a new employment initiative called the “Youth Skill Connect Programme”, aiming to bridge the gap between education and employment. This program is designed to offer free skill development training to youth between the ages of 18 and 30 in both rural and urban areas.
The training will cover sectors such as information technology, construction, hospitality, and healthcare. Participants will also receive career counselling, soft skills training, and job placement support.
The scheme is being implemented by the Department of Employment and Training, in collaboration with private training partners and industry experts.
Minister for Labour Welfare and Skill Development, C.V. Ganesan, stated that this initiative would empower the youth and reduce unemployment in the state. He added that special focus would be given to students from economically weaker sections and first-generation graduates.
