The Government of Tamil Nadu has decided to implement a new initiative called “Namma Ooru Clean Project” to promote cleanliness and sanitation in urban and rural areas. The project will be launched in all districts from 1st April 2024. Every municipality and panchayat shall appoint sanitation officers to oversee the project’s implementation. Separate funds will be allocated to each district based on population and area. Monthly review meetings will be conducted at the district level, and sanitation awareness camps will be organized in schools and public places. The Department of Municipal Administration and Water Supply will monitor the entire execution of the project.
